Strictly Between Us – A Sparkling Evening with Ann Widdicombe

Strictly Between Us – A Sparkling Evening with Ann Widdicombe

Join us at The Atkinson on Saturday 28 February at 7.30pm for A Sparkling Evening with Ann Widdicombe.

The politician, author, presenter and performer hosts an evening full of dynamic words, opinions and anecdotes from this lady who is a tour de force of nature!

Ann is a highly regarded novelist via her books The Clematis Tree and An Act of Treachery, and talking about that, what about her stage relationship with Craig Revel Horwood – they’ve done panto together twice…’Fabulous Darling!’

She is also an active campaigner for animal rights and had a high profile political career in Westminster serving as The Minister of Prisons (Yes, Ann has been in most of them!) whilst in John Major’s government.

Ann has had many notable TV and stage appearances from presenting BBC 1’s Have I Got News For You twice and her candid interview on ITV’s  Piers Morgan’s Life Stories and even appearing in an opera in Covent Garden!

But for 9 glorious weeks, Ann put on the feathers, sequins, make up and high heels to partner up with Anton duBeke on BBC 1’s Strictly Come Dancing and who can forget it!

Ann had a superwoman moment whilst suspended in mid air and turned like a whirling dervish on the dance floor to the pleasure of millions of people who watched and who voted to keep Ann on the show week after week after week. (Even Bruno was speechless, well almost!)

During this evening full of delicious, sparkling repartee, Ann will let the audience into the stories from her amazing life and after the interval (where you might drink cha-cha-cha), there will be a chance to ask Ann questions direct (if you dare!) and get a personal book signing too!

About The Atkinson
The Atkinson is Southport’s beautiful new home for music, theatre, art, poetry, literature and history, right in the middle of Lord Street in Southport. Significant investment has been made in refurbishing the stunning 19th century buildings, to create a really welcoming multi art-form venue with a strong contemporary feel.
The Atkinson offers an exciting and varied destination for families, cultural tourists and arts enthusiasts alike, with a full day and night time offer. Wile the day away visiting the new shop, that sells gifts and contemporary crafts from regional makers and then relax in the Bakery, choosing from a selection of artisan bread sandwiches, cakes and sharing platters. You can even take little bit of The Atkinson home with you from the delicatessen. Wonder through the major exhibitions and see performances from some of the UK’s foremost musicians, actors, performers and companies, films, family activities and much more.
Our stunning Egyptology Gallery is now open showcasing the Goodison Collection, not seen for over 40 years. In February we look forward to the opening of the new Sefton: Between Land & Sea Museum telling the story of 10,000 years of Seftons coast.
