Calling All Busk Love Folk Artists for Love Folk 2017

Calling All Busk Love Folk Artists for Love Folk 2017

The Atkinson’s annual Love Folk Festival returns in February and once again they are looking to showcase new talent on their Busk Love Folk Stage.

The Love Folk Festival team are looking for applications for artists to be part of the Love Folk Festival which runs from Friday 10 – Saturday 11 February 2017 at The Atkinson, Southport.

The Busk Love Folk Event will run throughout the afternoon and evening of Saturday the 11 of February and consist of 20-30 minute showcase appearances

The winners of the slots will be decided by The Love Folk Festival Team & their media partner, Fatea Magazine. For logistical reasons the slots are restricted to solo performers and duos and acts should be broadly in line with genres represented in the festival.

As well as a 20-30 minute showcase, the selected acts will also get:

  • Included on the Love Folk Festival Websitehttps://www.theatkinson.co.uk/special-event/love-folk-festival/
  • A feature in Fatea Magazine www.fatea-magazine.co.uk
  • Included in a ‘Busk Love Folk’ show on www.bluesandrootsradio.com
  • Press coverage relating to Festival
  • Free access to a merchandising table
  • Refreshments voucher

Getting gigs and making recordings is only part of the picture, Fatea’s editor, Neil King, will also be running a FREE workshop/Q&A session Making the Most out of Media on how to make the best use of the internet and social media to help get your band noticed and advice on how to approach radio stations, magazines, bloggers etc to maximise awareness. This event is free, just drop in on Saturday 11 February, 11am – 12pm in the Theatre Bar.

Fatea Editor Neil King said:

“Love Folk and the supporting Busk Love Folk have become an important part of the start of the festival season. Busk Love Folk and the workshops are a great opportunity to add to a musicians music CV and build towards a full festival season with a great and fun experience behind them ”

To be considered for a BUSK LOVE FOLK slot you will need to send an mp3 of the song that you best feel represents you as an act, plus a short biog and contact phone number to neilk@fatea.co.uk.  Applications should be submitted by the 20 December with the successful applicants notified early January followed by an announcement on the festival website and a media.

This year we are bringing out the big guns with headliners  Fairport Convention and newly solo John Boden.  So save the date Friday 10- Saturday 11 February 2017 as this is party folk fans will not want to miss!

Alongside the headliners we have some great young and upcoming talent in the form of Luke Jackson, Folklaw, Sam Kelly & The Lost Boys and Lady Maisery.

Emma Lloyd, The Atkinson’s Principle Manager: Programmes; Audience Development & Enterprise said:

Love Folk Festival is a great weekend and audiences really get to know each other and the team here at the venue. We have started to build a reputation for our music festivals and we hope this year it is supported as well as last year!

Building a new folk audience and supporting new artists is important to us and this is one of the ways we are able to play a part.

The acts will be selling their CD’s so if you like something you hear, you can take a bit of #Love Folk home with you. It’s a great chance to have a look round the venue, grab a coffee and a piece of cake from our Bakery and take advantage of great FREE music!”

Love Folk – the little festival with a big heart invites you to spend the most romantic weekend of the year singing, dancing drinking, eating and generally loving folk!
