Lizzie’s first theatre play Intemperance (Liverpool Everyman, Sept 2007) was awarded 5 stars by The Guardian and shortlisted for the Meyer-Whitworth Award.  She was one of the writers of the critically acclaimed Unprotected which was awarded the Amnesty International Award for Freedom of Expression (Liverpool Everyman/Traverse Edinburgh 2006). Lizzie’s full length play The Swallowing Dark was shortlisted for the Susan Smith Blackburn Award and reopened the Liverpool Playhouse Studio in October 2011, with a subsequent run at Theatre503 in London. In September 2015 her play with songs Narvik was produced by Box of Tricks with a two week run in the Liverpool Playhouse Studio, and a national tour scheduled January-March 2017. She has worked with Druid, Slung Low, The Gate, Trestle, Paines Plough and Cardboard Citizens. Current commissions include the Liverpool Everyman and The National Theatre England.

She has written extensively for BBC radio and her latest radio play Take Me to Hope Street was broadcast on Radio 4 in January 2015. She is currently under commission to write a new Radio 4 series for Woman’s Hour.

Lizzie’s debut short film Monkey Love aired in 2009 on Channel 4. In the same year she researched and developed a pitch for a children’s drama series with Lime Pictures as part of a writing team led by Frank Cottrell Boyce. In February 2013 she won Little Brother’s Big Opportunity and is currently developing original TV ideas with Little Brother Productions.

She is also a singer and songwriter, performing regularly with producer/composer Vidar Norheim. Releases include albums Company of Ghosts (Fellside Recordings 2010) and Black Hound Howling (Red Thread 2012). Their latest EP Songs of Drink and Revolution was released in 2013 to critical acclaim.
