The mile long, Victorian thoroughfare is said to have been the inspiration for the tree lined boulevards of Paris. With a charming, unique style all of its own, Lord Street has been a favourite shopping destination for over a century and has many fascinating stories to tell.
The exhibition will bring together a wide range of material including archive photographs, architectural plans as well as costume and film, to explore the heritage of the water features, gardens, glass-topped verandas and architectural buildings.
It will also provide opportunities for local people and businesses who have worked, lived and visited Lord Street to tell their stories, or their ancestors’ stories.
If you want to get involved in this exciting project, we want to hear from you. You may have heritage items: documents, objects or old photographs, that you could lend to the Atkinson for display; you may want to make a heritage display in your shop window; you may want to use the exhibition to promote your business in some way; you may have lots of other ideas. Please get in touch call 01704 533 333 or email marketing@theatkinson.co.uk
