What is The Atkinson Development Trust?
We are a registered charity, run by a committed group of skilled volunteers.
We all believe in the transformative power of art. And that communities thrive best when they have civic pride and a sense of place.
So the Trust was established to help The Atkinson use its collections and building to make a positive impact on local people’s lives.
Our aims
- To have a positive impact on local people’s lives
- To connect people with the heritage, art and stories of Sefton
- To improve access to the collections and the building
What we do
We raise money – from individuals, businesses and funding bodies – in order to support The Atkinson’s important work behind the scenes. Far beyond the arts service that the council pays for, we are using the amazing resource that is The Atkinson to make extraordinary things happen.
With the generous support of our donors, we’ve been able to give theatre tickets to school children who wouldn’t otherwise be able to attend, enabling them to experience the wonder of live performance. We have set up a choir which has brought joy and friendship to people at risk of isolation. And we’ve restored precious works of art so people can see them for the first time.
We need your help
We need to raise more money to bring communities together, inspire people, improve wellbeing, and give our young people aspirations.
There are lots of ways you can help. From a donation when you buy tickets online, to a regular monthly gift, becoming a member or sponsoring a seat.
Your support really can make a huge difference.
