Composed in 1860 Brahms Sextet in Bb is for 2 violins, 2 violas and two cellos. It was originally performed with Joseph Joachim on first violin. That same year Brahms transcribed the second movement for piano solo for his beloved Clara Schumann.
The Atkinson is working in partnership with L’Orchestra dell’ Arte to bring high quality, accessible classical music to Southport.
‘Cake & Classical Music’ takes place on the first Monday of each month, with a different ensembles, individuals and musicians performing 45 minute, lunchtime concerts. Ticket price includes a hot drink and a piece of cake.
