Sean Meo, Craig Murray & Jellybean Martinez

A firm favourite in Southport’s social calendar the Laugh Out Loud Comedy Club happens once a month and offers a raucous evening of entertainment, bringing the very best in live stand up.

The Comedy Club Night

Despite looking like he’s just stepped out of a Littlewoods catalogue, Sean Meo has actually been a professional stand-up since 1989. Before that, like his namesake Tony, he was a full time snooker player and was a quarter finalist in the English Championships of 1987. Since then, he has risen to the very top of the UK comedy scene and is much in demand as both a stand-up and a writer.

He’s been awarded the title Comic of The Year by Timeout Magazine. Sean has appeared at the Kilkenny, Cork and Montreal Comedy Festivals. On television, he has worked alongside such diverse nams as Clive James and Jimmy Tarbuck and appeared on everything from Des O’Connor Tonight, Celebrity Squares, and Talking Telephone Numbers, to Talking About Sex for Channel 4.

He has performed all over the world including Montreal, Singapore, Melbourne, New Zealand, Ireland and extensively in the US including San Francisco, New York the Riviera in Las Vegas.

As a result has a reputation as one of the most reliably funny act on the international circuit and we are happy he’s going to be bringing his hilarious act to Southport.

“He can turn out intelligent material with a speed that many other comics can only gasp at” Time Out

Craig Murray is not only hilarious he is also the face of the Plusnet broadband adverts. Craig cut his comedy teeth as resident compere at award-winning London club The Funny Side…of Covent Garden sharing a stage with some of the very best comedy acts in the business including Harry Hill, Stewart Lee and even Hollywood legend Robin Williams. Hailing from Dewsbury, West Yorkshire (a town otherwise famous for international terrorists, fake kidnaps and ‘Britain’s Best Market’) this charming northerner is currently one of the hottest talents on the comedy circuit. An instant crowd pleaser with a charismatic, friendly stage presence we’re delighted he’s agreed to come to Southport.

“Bloody funny” Jo Brand

Jellybean Martinez is a Spanish pop star who works an audience like no other. He’s an explosive, high energy act; jam-packed full of camp nonsense and leaves an indelible mark on any punters mind! He’s a regular on the Scottish comedy circuit and is now making waves in England.

“Hits the comic bullseye” Three weeks
