Dom Joly is best known as the creator of Trigger Happy TV. And now the writer and broadcaster is undertaking his first UK tour since 2011, giving fans a rare opportunity to see him live.

In Dom Joly’s Holiday Snaps: Travel & Comedy in the Danger Zone, Dom will be talking about his exploits as a serial globe-trotting and seeker of dangerous travel spots. From North Korea though the Congo and Syria to Chernobyl, he’s visited some of the most unusual places on the planet. Joly famously attended school with Osama Bin Laden and armed with a trusty Powerpoint, fans can expect his holiday snaps to provide comedy and a sense of danger.

The best-selling author will meet fans after the show to sign copies of his latest book, The Hezbollah Hiking Club.

About Dom Joly

Dom Joly is a multi-award winning television comedian, journalist and travel writer. His first television series, Trigger Happy TV, was a prime-time Friday night hit for Channel 4 in 2000-2003 and went on to be sold in over fifty countries world-wide and win several awards including the Silver Rose of Montreux.

Since then Dom has made TV shows for the BBC, FIVE, Sky One and Comedy Central USA, including the acclaimed spoof travel series Dom Joly’s Happy Hour. After a long break from comedy, Dom will launch his new Saturday night prime-time hidden camera show Fool Britannia, on ITV 1 this coming Autumn.

A prolific columnist, he has written for most of the broadsheets and tabloids, and had weekly columns in the Independent and the Independent on Sunday for the last twelve years. He is also an award-winning travel writer for the Sunday Times and the Mail On Sunday. For three years Dom wrote a spoof column under the pseudonym of Cooper Brown that ran in the Independent and then i.

Dom is an author, with several books under his belt. Most recently The Dark Tourist – a travelogue in which he visited the most unappealing tourist destinations in the world (North Korea, skiing in Iran, Chernobyl). His new travel book, Scary Monsters and Super Creeps, documenting his international monster-hunting adventures, is out in September this year, for which he is developing a comic travel series for TV.

He has directed viral ad campaigns for Barclays, Tango, Comet and Cadburys as well as music videos for Ian Brown and Wig Wam (Alex James from Blur and Betty Boo). His first feature film, War of the Flea, is in development at Brilliant Films, which is he is co-producing with his Trigger Happy directing partner Sam Cadman.

Dom is an avid social network user and recently won “Funniest Man on Twitter” at the Loaded Lafta Awards 2012. Dom’s award-nominated podcasts- “Dom Joly’s Celebrity Comedy Podcasts” were a big hit in 2011 and another series is in development.

Before Trigger Happy TV Dom was a producer for ITN in Westminster, a diplomat for the European Commission in Prague and worked for the International Herald Tribune in Paris.

Dom lives in the Cotswolds and London with his Canadian wife Stacey and his two kids. His interests include photography, tennis and lethargy.
