On the first Saturday of every month the Laugh Out Loud Comedy Club offer a raucous evening of entertainment, bringing the best live stand-up to Southport!
This month features Smug Roberts, Kevin Dewsbury and Davey Ash.

In 1998 our headline act Smug Roberts he released the novelty anthem “Meat Pie, Sausage Roll (Come on England, Gi’s a Goal)” as “Grandad Roberts”. Both the character and song stemming from his afternoon radio show on Key 103 and subsequent stand up comedy routine. Three years prior to that Smug was performing his first stand up gig when he was discovered by none other than Caroline Aherne (Mrs Merton Show and The Royle Family). Since then he’s gone on to star in ‘That Peter Kay Thing’ Channel 4, ‘Cold Feet’  ITV, ‘Phoenix Nights’ Channel 4, Steve Coogan’s Film ’24 Hour Party People’ and Channel 4’s Bafta award winning Buried. His confidence as a performer is legendary in the comedy world and in terms of the funnies he is on a par with his contemporaries Peter Kay and Jonny Vegas.

An extraordinary comic (Manchester Evening News)

A brilliant act, he defies description and has to be seen (City Life)

A master storyteller (Radio Times)

Kevin Dewsbury performs all over the UK and overseas, has supported Michael McIntyre, Omid Djalili and Russell Howard and has burgeoning reputation as one the country’s top acts. With material ranging from storytelling, observations and one liners he’s been a hit at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in sell out shows to critical acclaim. He’s also must be the only comedian in the world that’s had a role in Martin Scorsese’s recent film ‘Hugo’ and in a advert. When he’s not being funny on stage he can often be heard Richard Bacon’s show on BBC Radio 5 live.

Slickness and sheer talent” Time Out

This naturally affable scouse storyteller Davey Ash is instantly relatable with hilarious stories from his day to day life. His fresh and original material helped him to win the title of Liverpools new comedian of the year back in 2012…after a sabbatical from comedy he is back and ready to have you entertained with some fantastic tales of his strange and sometimes wonderful life.

Damion Larkin will often improvise his entire set to hilarious effect. There are no genuine comparisons to this man. He is a versatile and creative comedian who always leaves audiences wanting more. “Industrious in rotating his material…which is warmly and intelligently told”  Chortle “One of the country’s top new acts” BBC (this was years ago so now he’s just one of the country’s comedians! haha)

All line ups are subject to change, but don’t worry, we’ll only replace them with someone twice as funny.
