A firm favourite in Southport’s social calendar the Laugh Out Loud Comedy Club happens once a month and offers a raucous evening of entertainment, bringing the very best in live stand up.

The Comedy Club Night

Tom Wrigglesworth is one of the smartest and funniest stand ups you could hope to spend an evening with. He’s an award winning act including a nomination for the Edinburgh Fringe Festivals Comedy Award (formerly The Perrier Award). This led to his own Radio 4 series, Tom Wrigglesworth’s Open Letters, followed by a sold out UK tour with extra dates added due to overwhelming public demand. He also accepted invitations to perform at the New Zealand Comedy Festival and the prestigious Montreal Festival and is now firmly established as one of the most original and talented comedians on the UK and international circuit. Charismatic wordsmith Tom is an articulate and natural raconteur who possesses an innate ability to riff with an audience like they’re old friends. A rare chance to see him outside of his national tour.

‘The ultimate crowd pleaser’ The Guardian

Howard Read is opening the show for us but is an accomplished headliner in his own right and is the only British comedian on the circuit who’s appeared on both The Royal Variety Performance and The Tonight Show with Jay Leno (NBC). In 2002, he was also the only British Nominee for the prestigious Perrier Award, and has since written for Ross Noble and Ricky Gervais.

He might be best known for being the creator and performer in Big Howard, Little Howard (BBC1), the world’s first human cartoon double act but he’s also an acclaimed stand-up comic. This is a rare club performance due to filming commitments and is set to be a real treat.

“Breathtakingly funny” Sunday Times

More mirth arrives in the form of Barry Dodds, a circuit favourite and lovable Geordie whose cheeky grin hides no end of uproarious and unpredictable stories and gags. He charms audiences nationwide and is as adorable as he is funny – this brilliant comic will equally captivate you and make you laugh. In 2006 he headed to Luxembourg where he became the first comedian to appear on Luxembourg TV. He’s also appeared in the sitcom Hebburn (BBC2) with Vic Reeves.
