Hand Grown: FLORI bunda
1 February – 15 March 2025
Floribunda brings together ten female artists and craftspeople from the Wirral, each exploring the natural beauty of the region through the lens of flowers, foliage, fungi, and lichen. This exhibition at The Landing Gallery of The Atkinson in Southport highlights the rich biodiversity of the area, from coastal to woodland, showcasing the diverse ways in which these artists interpret and engage with the flora and fauna that surrounds them.
Using a variety of mediums and techniques — from delicate watercolour designs to detailed sculptures in paper and porcelain, intricate photographic prints to dynamic mixed-media works — each piece invites the viewer to pause and reflect on the intricate forms and subtle details that often go unnoticed in our everyday environments. The artists delve into the textures, colours, and patterns found in the natural world, revealing how these elements can be both familiar and transformative. Many of the artists use sustainable methods in their practice, using recycled or natural materials.
Featuring: Alison Bailey Smith, Ola Lee, Ling Warlow, Jude Gill, Emma Dromgoole, Fiona Brett Blything, Julie Dodd, Mary Bryning, Karen Lawson, and Marianthi Lainas.
The exhibition has been instigated and facilitated by exhibiting artist, Alison Bailey Smith.
