What’s it all About?

At The Library is a programe of art making, taking place at 6 libraries across Sefton. Happening from Winter 2017 to Spring 2018, The Atkinson and Sefton Libraries Service will present 4 seasons of creative experiences for library users old and new. At the Library aims to renew past passions our local library with invitations to take part, experience and enjoy a series of artist residencies, micro commissions and pop up events.

At The Library will explore how libraries and artists can work together in order to transform and rejuvenate the library space, its collections and resources, whilst also providing a new lens through which we can reimagine the library as a local, collective asset.

Each season will involve an artist residency at one or more libraries and a menu of smaller pop up or short experiences created by artists. In The Library has identified three key themes: celebration and food, heritage and family life which reflect local passions and interests. Artists will be invited to respond to our themes and beyond to create new encounters in the library space.
