Tea Dances Offer a New addition to The Atkinson’s Day Time offer
A new series of afternoon Tea Dances start at The Atkinson on Monday 19 January in partnership with Sefton Older Persons Enabling Resource & Action (O.P.E.R.A).

After the huge success of the Tea Dance held as part of World Mental Health Day last November, The Atkinson have decided to start a series of events as part of their continued commitment to the Health and Wellbeing agenda.

The Tea Dances start at 1.30pm and offer an afternoon of live entertainment for the over 50’s. They feature ‘Elvis’ and music from bands such as ‘Remember When’ and ‘Memory Lane’ along with dance routines from ‘The Bootle Belles’.

Philip Wroe, The Atkinson’s Community Partnerships Manager said: “The Atkinson has a huge role to play in supporting the Health and Wellbeing of its visitors. Whether it’s through attending performances and talks, taking part in workshops or volunteering, involvement in the arts helps improve confidence and encourages people who are often isolated to become more active.

The Tea Dances form part of a wider programme of daytime activity aimed at encouraging social engagement and is particularly important in addressing isolation among older people.’
