Hold On To Your Seats As We Blast Off! At The Atkinson

This Easter half term hold onto your seats as Kid Carpet in association with Tobacco Factory Theatre and House presents Blast Off!  A new rock n roll musical for kids aged 4+ at The Atkinson.

A super duper really really fast adventure around a rock ‘n’ roll musical universe; our friends encounter noisy planets, cheesed-off nursery rhyme characters and shooting stars.

What discoveries will they make on their travels? Will they get lost in a black hole? Why are ping pong balls flying around the room? Will they ever come back down to Earth?

Blast Off! on Tuesday 8 April at 2.30pm involves  some very lo-fi technological wizardry – turning everyday toys into magical superstars with the aid of a video camera, lots of laughs, silliness and live music!

Over the last 10 years Kid Carpet has garnered himself an international reputation as a pioneer of catchy, lo-fi electro-pop music. Having released 4 albums, toured with acts like Arcade Fire, Badly Drawn Boy, Willy Mason and worked with cult film director Alex Cox. He started off his theatre career by making up songs for his two year old and since then has become one of the most popular children’s theatre creators around.

His following means tickets don’t stick around for long and the reception for shows is overwhelmingly positive.  Not only are this funky group of musically talented animals back, they’re now THE biggest band in the world. So big that the only place they can find inspiration for their new album is outer space!
