First Southport Blues Festival is Announced with Headliner Steve Cropper

American music icon Steve Cropper has been announced as the headlining act of the first Southport Blues Festival to be held at The Atkinson.

The festival in partnership with Solid Entertainments takes place on Sunday 19 October from 2pm to 10pm and will feature six international acts.

 Steve Cropper (The Colonel) has been in the Stax Records house band, Booker T & the MG’s and has backed artists such as Otis Redding, Carla & Rufus Thomas and Sam & Dave. Steve was also a member of the Blues Brothers and appeared as himself in both Blues Brothers films.

 The Colonel first came to prominence in the early 60’s, and went on to be a mainstay of the R&B and Soul scene. His inclusion in the Blues Brothers band subsequent film brought his work to a new generation and he continues to tour and record solo work and appears as a guest with a wide range of artists.

With five fabulous artists still left to be announced – do not miss the opportunity to see international blues artists live in Southport.
