Merseyside Primary School Art Competition Winners Now On Display in The Atkinson

The Atkinson in partnership with Merchant Taylors’ Schools celebrates the creative talent within Merseyside primary schools this spring with a Primary School Art Competition.

With 485 of entries from 25 primary schools across Merseyside, the overall winner was chosen from Farnborough Road Primary School in Birkdale.

The prize was an exciting puppet making workshop run by renowned artist Chiz Turnross at The Atkinson for ten pupils of the winning school as well as having their work on display in The Atkinson.

The workshop took place in The Art Box, The Atkinson’s free family friendly creative space in the heart of the Galleries.

The winner, Abigail Shrimpton and nine of her arty friends from Farnborough Road Primary School (including her brother) worked with Chiz Turnross to make the wonderful hand puppets.  The theme of the workshop was animal super heroes.

The super animal hero puppets are now part of an exhibition of all the entries from the Merseyside Primary Schools Art Competition currently on display in the Sefton Voices Gallery in the Atkinson within the library.  The exhibition runs until Friday 16July.
