A Tale of Friendship and Imagination for 3-6 Year Olds

Birdsnest Theatre brings new production My Friend Mole to The Atkinson this February.

Join Birdsnest Theatre as they weave this gentle tale of a very special friendship and the imagination, using live music, storytelling and a rich visual language that will delight and surprise its audience.

Birdsnest Theatre is a young dynamic theatre company specializing in creating and delivering high quality theatre productions for children.

Their simple, thoughtful and imaginative storytelling created specifically for an intimate audience, captures the magic of their beautifully crafted performances.

In My Friend Mole, the Artistic Directors weave an evolving landscape that unfolds delicately. Written by Xana Marwick, the show focuses on a young girl and her imaginary friend in a moving story of friendship and imagination.

The simple set allows room for the imagination to fill the space as the audience is carried along by the rich storytelling of the performers. Birdsnest invite you to indulge your imaginations, to get lost in a world that the performers and audience create together.

Emily Austen co Artistic Director of Birdsnest Theatre said;

“My Friend Mole is made specifically for children between 3-6 years and their accompanying adults. We keep audience numbers low, creating a safe, intimate environment. For many, this will be their first experience of theatre and we want it to be welcoming and a magical journey.”

Using music and lighting, the team considers the child’s experience from the moment they enter the space. The children sit on cushions with their adults throughout the performance. After the show there is a stay and play element, the audience are invited into the performance space to interact with the performers and props.

My Friend Mole is the third production of a successful line of imaginative theatrical pieces from the company.
