Kick of Your Shoes and Dance with the Keston Cobblers Club at The Atkinson

The spring folk season at The Atkinson continues with a lively bunch that are heading for big things and making a name for themselves on the way!

The Keston Cobblers Club music is catchy, contemporary pop-folk, based on folklore but full of modern kick!

Since forming in 2009, they’ve played some of the UK’s biggest festivals, sold out their own headline tours, and been invited to perform live on BBC Radio by the likes of Dermot O’Leary, Steve Lamacq and Bob Harris. They’ve provided the music for advertising campaigns for Burberry and Mornflake, created all the music for stand-up Ross Noble’s ‘Sit Down Tour’ film, and can often be heard on TV shows from ‘Hairy Bikers’ to ‘Countryfile’.

Their most recent album, ‘Wildfire’, showcases the infectious spirit building on the band’s bedrock of urgent anthems, thumped drums, sweet strums and tuba – combining these elements with 90s synth hooks, huge orchestral waves and choral arrangements which the band describe as “a blanket of voices.” The album received praise on its release from The Guardian, Financial Times and Independent among others, while MOJO Magazine gave the album a glowing 4 star review, and have tipped the band for great success.

“They’ve been tipping KCC for great things for a while and for once they may be right…beautifully assembled…clever hooks…crossover potential written all over it” MOJO ****

“Ear-worm melodies” **** Financial Times

“Rambunctious folk…joyous pop” *** Guardian

“Wondrous….hugely accomplished” fRoots

“Could this 5-piece be your new favourite folk-pop group?” Digital Spy

“Furiously contagious…. Trust us, you’ll be humming it all summer. Pop-folk newcomers continue to impress” – Clash Magazine

About The Atkinson

The Atkinson is Southport’s beautiful new home for music, theatre, art, poetry, literature and history, right in the middle of Lord Street in Southport. Significant investment has been made in refurbishing the stunning 19th century buildings, to create a really welcoming multi art-form venue with a strong contemporary feel.

The Atkinson offers an exciting and varied destination for families, cultural tourists and arts enthusiasts alike, with a full day and night time offer. Wile the day away visiting the new shop, that sells gifts and contemporary crafts from regional makers and then relax in the Bakery, choosing from a selection of artisan bread sandwiches, cakes and sharing platters.
You can even take little bit of The Atkinson home with you from the delicatessen. Wander through the major exhibitions and see performances from some of the UK’s foremost musicians, actors, performers and companies, films, family activities and much more.

The new Museum is now open. Sefton Between Land & Sea tells the story of Southport and Sefton as well as the area’s dramatic maritime history. While Discover Ancient Egypt – the new Egyptology Gallery is the home of the Goodison Egyptology Collection, a remarkable collection of archaeology that has not been seen for over 40 years.
