About Alfie Moore

  • Alfie Moore recently retired as a Police Sergeant with Humberside Police.
  • He has served with both Lincolnshire and Humberside forces, for a total of 20 years, with roles including front-line response, Neighbourhood Sergeant and Detective Sergeant in the Public Protection Team – specialising in domestic violence and vulnerable adults. Alfie was seconded to the local force Drugs Unit and the Regional Counter Terrorism Team. He was a practical trainer for new recruits in the Humberside Police Tutor Unit.
  • Shortly after passing all his exams, to be promoter to Police Inspector, he took up comedy and found that it gave him a powerful ‘voice’ to raise awareness of topical policing issues. He uses that voice to inform and entertain, including on BBC Radio 4.
  • Alfie writes and performs his own BBC Radio 4 comedy series ‘It’s a Fair Cop’. A fourth series has been on air late summer 2018 and some episodes are available on the BBC iPlayer. In the show he ‘swears in’ the studio audience as police officers for the night and shares with them a true scenario from his case file. The audience is challenged by the dilemmas that front line officers face every day as they decide what they would have done.
