As part of Dementia Action Week (20 – 26 May 2019), The Atkinson is showing a special screening of Singin’ in the Rain on Friday 24 May at 1:30pm. The Atkinson is proud to support Alzheimer’s Society and we have a number of trained Dementia Friends. Everyone is welcome to attend the screening.

Carers go free. Carers include anyone who attends the screening to make their companion comfortable. Carer’s tickets are available at Box Office or over the phone 01704 533 333.

Dementia Action Week (20 – 26 May 2019) unites people, workplaces, schools and communities to take action and improve the lives of people living with dementia.
Dementia Friends
The Atkinson embeds health, wellbeing and learning across all of its facilities; promoting, signposting and programme sharing with a number of partners that include The Alzheimer’s Society, Age Concern, Public Health, Merseycare, CVS and the Living Well Centre.
The Atkinson’s front line staff have received Dementia Friends Awareness sessions from two on-site Dementia Champions and together with Sefton Library Service continues to deliver sessions to new members of staff, volunteers and partners’ staff.
The Atkinson’s facilities are fully disability compliant on all levels and have been designed to be accessible for those with complex needs including those with dementia.
The Atkinson programmes a number of activities and opportunities for those with dementia and their carers and offers opportunities for arts and library based volunteering. The Atkinson can provide memory and loan boxes to local care homes and day centres.
