Merseyrail Sound Station

Applications Now Open!

Applications are now open for semester 4 of music development programme Merseyrail Sound Station. The programme is open to any musician of any genre currently recording and/or performing across Merseyside and the Merseyrail network (as far north as Southport all the way to Chester).

Sound Station looks for the brightest talent in the region, whether they have gigged across the country or are just starting out recording in their bedroom, and chooses a diverse mix of musicians to go through a series of development sessions.

From Oct – Nov 2019, semester 4 Sound Station artists will benefit from:

– One-to-one mentoring from experienced industry professionals
– A studio workshop to hone recording and songwriting skills
– An artist masterclass from Becky Hawley of Stealing Sheep
– An industry seminar with a panel of music business experts
– Exclusive live opportunities and additional workshops, mentoring and advice
– A Merseyrail pass for across the network

The semester closes with a day-long festival at Liverpool Central station at which all the musicians will play a short set. Merseyrail Sound Station Live takes place on Saturday 30th November.

Previous artists to take part in the programme include Eyesore & the Jinx, Beija Flo, Breezy, Yank Scally and Salt The Snail. Representatives from Warner Music, Sound City, Mute Records and Domino Records have all taken part in industry seminars and venues from the Philharmonic to the M&S Bank Arena have played host to development sessions.

In October, three artists from previous semesters will play in front of industry professionals at a special showcase in London in partnership with promoter Eat Your Own Ears.

Go to merseyrailsoundstation.com to register your applications before Friday 27th September. The group of artists chosen to take part in semester four will be revealed in the week commencing 7th October.
