Call for Artists: Festival of Hope Sefton

Are you an artist based in the North West of England? The Festival of Hope Sefton are looking for artists to collaborate in a series of projects to be delivered in October 2020.

The Atkinson, in collaboration with Hope Streets, Curious Minds and Blaze, is working with a group of Young Producers to create the Festival of Hope Sefton; a pioneering festival that places young people at the heart of design, making, programming & production.


The Skate Paint
Deadline: 23 August 2020
Delivery: 31 August – 2 October 2020
Artists fee: £2500 – £3000 (including expenses and dependent on experience)

The Festival of Hope Sefton is looking for a visual artist to create a large-scale painting/mural for the skate park in North Park, Bootle. This is a paid opportunity to create an artwork representative of the community who use the park. The process will be documented and made into a film that will be screened at The Atkinson.


Light Art Commission
Deadline: 23 August 2020
Delivery: 24 October 2020
Artists fee: £4000 – £5000 (including expenses and dependent on experience)

The Festival of Hope Sefton would like to commission an experienced visual artist or collective to work collaboratively with them to create a large-scale work incorporating LIGHT. This is a paid opportunity to create an artwork situated on The Atkinson’s facade or within Southport’s Town Hall Gardens, acting as a marker for the festival ‘takeover’ of The Atkinson in October 2020.


Sustainability as an Artform
Deadline: 31 August 2020
Delivery: 7 September – 7 November 2020
Artists fee: £800 – £1000 (including expenses and dependent on experience)

The Festival of Hope Sefton is looking for a visual artist to create and deliver a series of online workshops for young people based on sustainability, with the intention to develop knowledge and understanding using household and recycled materials. This is a paid opportunity to deliver workshops to support a group of young people to create a sustainable exhibition at The Atkinson.

The Festival of Hope Sefton is looking for a textile artist aged 18-29 to create a heritage piece celebrating the past & present community in Sefton. This is a paid opportunity to create three 5 ft x 5 ft artworks, displayed in a wooden frame in the style of a house.
