The Museum Futures trainee at The Atkinson will help the Marketing Team coordinate and develop informative, engaging and accessible digital content for the museums’ galleries and online use. They will be encouraged to write blogs as well as curate their own on-line exhibitions. The chosen candidate will also work with the Museum and Galleries team and be fully trained on digitisation, including 2D photography of objects in our collection (everything from works of art to shrimping nets) as well as being trained on our collections database (Modes) in order to help update our digital documentation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the digitisation and documentation of The Atkinson’s collection
  • Assist in making the collection available and easily accessible online on The Atkinson’s website, ArtUK and social media
  • Support the work to increase The Atkinson’s connections with local communities in Sefton
  • Assist the Young Producers (this could be through managing the social media account, creating online content from the project or helping document events)

The trainee will be paid a bursary of £14,650 (tax free) and work towards a Level 3 Diploma in Cultural Heritage. This is a full-time placement for one year.
