Ykids will also be launching the ‘Horrid History Map of Bootle’ a interactive map of old Bootle created by local children during lockdown. This beautiful interactive fold-out map features videos, photographs, quizzes and facts all collated and re-enacted by children and staff from Ykids’ Horrid History group during the pandemic.

The map will be freely available for the public to try out, interact with and discover the rich, and in some cases, gross history of Bootle. The project would not have been possible without the generous funding made available by the Heritage Lottery Fund.

The #BCLF 2-week program has partnered Liverpool’s best local authors and poets, such as Levi Tefari, Jamie Broad, Jude Lennon, Daniel Riding, Altru Theatre Company, Alan Gibbons and many more, aiming to inspire and engage children in a love of all things story. Thousands of children from Bootle schools will receive a ‘Golden Ticket’ that they can redeem for a brand new book at Kingsley&Co bookshop courtesy of the Siobhan Dowd Trust.

In addition to the public events and schools program, Ykids has partnered with other organisations such as St Leonards, In Another Place, Start Creative CIC and Bootle Library to bring magical and educational experiences to Bootle children.
