Outline of main duties

To be part of a highly effective team delivering the day to day management of The Atkinson’s building and facilities, and supporting delivery of all programmes and services

To support organisational change in The Atkinson’s operations to drive best value from our resources

To support the Operations team in:

  • Providing a safe and clean environment for visitors, staff and contractors
  • Cleaning duties as required
  • Welcoming visitors to the building
  • Supporting the Operations team
  • Reducing environmental impact through recycling, reduction in utility costs

Job requirements

General porterage duties including checking of deliveries and taking them to the appropriate location

Provide regular and ad hoc cleaning duties including refuse disposal, cleaning of public toilets, ad hoc cleaning of spillages, removing litter

Ensure the security of the building and to open and close the building

To be a registered key holder.

Monitor the presence and work of contractors on site

Maintain and follow Fire and Emergency Procedures and Operational Plans, regularly test alarm systems and undergo training as dictated by the venue’s Entertainment Licence

Maintain general maintenance and delivery duties to meet the highest standards front and back of house at The Atkinson

Skills and Experience

A good standard of general education

Good, practical experience of routine technical repairs and maintenance

An enthusiastic and outgoing personality with good inter-personal and communication skills who is comfortable dealing with members of the public.

Previous experience in either a maintenance or public facing role
The work will involve some heavy lifting and may occasionally require work to be undertaken above floor level for which appropriate equipment will be supplied.

Proven reliability and punctuality.

The post holder is required to wear certain branded items of clothing, along with other specified items which are supplied by the Authority.
