Summer In Southport

Southport is synonymous with summer. Ever since the Victorian era, holidaymakers have flocked to our stunning coastline to enjoy everything sunny Southport has to offer. Each summer provides a new opportunity to make memories with the whole family. So, grab your bucket and spade and join us for a season of delight!

You cannot discuss summer in Southport without mentioning Southport Pleasureland. Offering a mix of exhilarating roller coasters, a log flume and firm family favourites like the dodgems and waltzers to the masses for over 100 years, Pleasureland is premier attraction for families looking for thrills, spills and a lot of fun.

Speaking of Pleasureland, The Atkinson is celebrating the past, present and future of the iconic amusement park with an exhibition in its galleries aptly named Barnum In The Blood. From 25 June onwards, this exhibition tells the story of the sixth-generation showman who is now at the helm of Pleasureland and promises all the fun of the fair with an awesome local history lesson thrown in.

Alongside Barnum In The Blood, The Atkinson is also displaying a number of exciting new exhibitions across the summer in Southport. Other upcoming exhibitions include The Poetry Of Trees (from 4 June), Zarah Hussain: Light Upon Light (11 June – 24 September), Built on Sand: 200 Years of Southport’s Changing Street Scene (18 June – 17 September) and Southport’s Victorian Visitors (2 July – 17 September).
