It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to Mikel Bate who worked in The Atkinson, most recently in Southport Library but within Tourist Information for most of his Sefton career.

Known to us all as Mike, he worked for Sefton Council for over 20 years and will be hugely missed by all of his colleagues, friends and regular visitors.

Mike will be remembered as ‘Mr Southport’ his passion for the town was extraordinary and his knowledge was second to none.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Mike’s family and friends.

His funeral will be held at 11am on Monday 6th June, at Southport Crematorium. And a celebration of his life will be held at Southport Football Club (another of Mike’s passions).
