The Semina Halliwell Foundation

The Semina Halliwell Foundation

A new painting is now on display in the community space in Southport Library at The Atkinson.

The large 9ft x 6ft portrait celebrates the life of Semina Halliwell who tragically died on 12 June 2021 aged 12 years.

The portrait marks the establishment of The Semina Halliwell Foundation a charity whose purpose is to raise awareness of the dangers of online grooming, bullying and rape culture.

The painting by local artist Robert Newbiggin was commissioned on behalf of the Foundation to represent the face of the charity.

The portrait was unveiled during a private event attended by family, friends, and supporters of the charity.

Damion Moore MP welcomed guests to the event, Semina’s Aunty Clare spoke passionately about the Foundation and Semina’s Mother Rachel read a moving poem she had written for her daughter. After Semina’s Grandparents unveiled the striking portrait, Peter Coyle of The Lotus Eaters sang ‘The First Picture of You’ with guests joining in during the chorus.

Visitors to Southport Library can see the portrait on display from 21 July – 10 September 2022.
