Open Eye Gallery and Liverpool City Region Combined Authority are calling for entries to the Liverpool City Region Photo Awards 2023

Liverpool City Region is a place for photographers – our varied landscapes and vibrant communities have led to images that have inspired visitors and locals alike. Historically, the city region has nurtured more than its fair share of internationally significant photographers, something that continues today.

Over the last few years, more than ever before, people have shared their lives through photography on social media. We all know the power of a photograph: to bring us nearer to things we miss (or might have missed), to communicate beyond language, and connect instantly.

Now Open Eye Gallery and Liverpool City Region Combined Authority are supporting the Liverpool City Region Photo Awards 2023 to celebrate the culture, creativity and vibrancy across our city region.

Everyone living in the Liverpool City region can submit 3-5 images in one chosen category. Stephen Whittle, The Atkinson’s Principal Manager for Museum, Gallery & Operations, is a judge in the Living Sustainably category.

📸 Deadline to apply: 9 January 2023.

📸 Free submission, no entrance fee.

📸 Open to anyone living in Liverpool city region. (Halton, Knowsley, Liverpool, St Helens, Sefton and Wirral)

📸 Choose 1 category and submit 3-5 photos. (Categories: People & Places / Still Life / Living Sustainably / Sport / Portrait / Urban Living / Creative / Wildlife & Nature)

📸 If your photo is created on mobile, or is analogue, or you are under 16, mention it in your project description and you can win additional subcategory prizes.

📸 No need for new photos – use your archive. Submitted photos do not need to be taken in Liverpool City Region.

📸 There are cash prizes for winners and special prizes for different categories. (Special prizes: Overnight stay & breakfast at INNSiDE Liverpool. Free memberships at dot-art Darkroom. Darkroom materials from Harman Technology.)

📸 Winners announced: 9 March 2023.

📸 The winning photographs will be a part of an exhibition at Open Eye Gallery. All submissions will be featured on Open Eye Gallery’s Digital Window Gallery.
