Andrea Ku our resident beekeeper delivered an interesting talk earlier this month telling us about the different types of bees, the often brutal life in a hive and gave us ideas about how to make our surroundings better for bees and other pollinators. Andrea described bee-keeping as therapeutic and an excellent way to learn more about the world around us.
The talk was very well attended and people enthusiastically engaged in the session. One member of the audience said, “she pitched it just right, I learned lots and it didn’t go over my head”. Another said, “I really enjoyed hearing about drones being thrown out once they were no longer needed”.
We have the second of our Meet the Beekeeper events coming up on 23 February. This is a practical session – Making Homes for Solitary Bees. Although this event is free, booking will be required. Booking opens on 9th February.
