In the meantime, there is still so much of The Atkinson to enjoy!

Our museum invites you to travel back to Ancient Egypt & discover 10,000 years of the Sefton coast. Our stunning Egyptology museum shows what life was like in ancient Egypt at the time of the Pharaohs whilst Discover Land & Sea tells the stories of the people who have lived and worked along Sefton’s coast.

Our museums are free entry and open Monday – Saturday 10am – 4pm.

Southport Library is home to over 50,000 books plus a regular events programme including Story & Rhyme Time, Construction Club, and Grounders Graphics Group. Information about these events can be found here.

Southport Library is free entry and open Monday – Saturday 10am – 5pm.

We are also home to a shop made up of handmade items from local artists and prints from our collection. If you are looking for an alternative gift for a loved one; our shop team are on hand to match you to the perfect item! Remember your visit to The Atkinson with souvenirs from our museum. You can also pick up Southport memorabilia that any Sandgrounder would be proud to own!

Our award-winning café, A Great Little Place, is your one stop shop for great coffee and fabulous food. In the relaxed atmosphere, you can relish meltingly good paninis, delectable hand-made cakes, fresh soups (made from an abundance of vegetables from their market garden) and mouth-watering pastries. The coffee is expertly made from a blend of traditional flame roasted coffee beans from Fair Trade providers across the world.
