Sefton could soon have a brand-new cultural strategy designed to boost the Borough’s incredible array of talent within its communities. The Local Authority has launched a public consultation to seek the views of residents, community groups and creative professionals on how the Borough can develop its cultural offer.
Questions asked in the public survey will help us to understand more about the Borough’s current cultural interests, areas of activity and identify opportunities for further creative participation. People of all ages and interests are encouraged to complete the survey and offer their valued thoughts.
The results of the consultation will inform the development of Sefton’s cultural strategy. This will help to set the path towards greater creative collaboration in the Borough and promote Sefton’s reputation as a place where culture thrives. It will also inform planning towards Sefton’s Borough of Culture celebrations in 2025.
Cllr Trish Hardy, Sefton Council’s Cabinet Member for Communities and Housing, said: “Sefton is synonymous with culture. From art to music, sport to the big screen, we are a borough with culture in our veins. There are famous actors and musicians, inspirational artists and writers, who all started their lives in Sefton. We’re home to internationally renowned art installations, one of the most famous golf courses in the world, incredibly rare flora and fauna and more. We are the definition of culture and we want to build on such a fantastic legacy by doing more for our future generations. And in order to do so we need everyone to have their say and contribute to the creation of our Sefton Cultural Strategy. With your help we can advance local opportunities for creativity and reaffirm Sefton’s place as one of the North West’s best places to be for culture.”
