People of The Atkinson: Molly

Another look at the people under our roof who make The Atkinson so unique. Here’s some more People of The Atkinson.
Molly, Customer Assistant & Egyptologist.

“I joined The Atkinson team in October 2021 upon completing my Masters in Art Gallery and Museum Studies. Each day brings exciting new challenges due to the diverse nature of my role, but it is the Discover Ancient Egypt museum that truly holds a special place in my heart. With my background in Egyptology, I had the wonderful opportunity to contribute to The Atkinson’s Egyptology month celebrations in November 2022. I’m thrilled to continue offering free Egyptology sessions throughout the summer as well, focusing on my specialisation in spirituality and demonology in Ancient Egyptian lore. I’m particularly fascinated by the Goddess Taweret—a full-bodied hippo revered as the protector of women and children, especially during childbirth.

The Atkinson’s commitment to sharing everyday people’s stories and emphasising women’s narratives resonates deeply with me. Witnessing how the museums bring these tales to life is both inspiring and meaningful. As someone passionate about history, it’s a true joy to meet like-minded individuals who share a love for the past. In my role, I have the privilege of sharing this passion with visitors, which is a rewarding experience. So, if you ever come across me in the museums, don’t hesitate to reach out—I’d be more than happy to share some of my favourite artefacts and the intriguing stories behind them.

One particular highlight for me has been witnessing Dinosaur World Live in the Theatre. Observing the children’s sheer excitement during the show was incredibly heart-warming, especially as it’s not every day you encounter a tyrannosaurus rex in Southport!

I am genuinely enthusiastic about my work at The Atkinson and the opportunity it presents to engage with diverse audiences. Together, we can embark on a journey through history and culture, fostering a deeper appreciation for the remarkable stories that shape our world.”
