October Half Term at The Atkinson

October Half Term is fast approaching and The Atkinson has something for everyone to enjoy!


If you’re looking for a special family treat, why not take in a performance of Swan Lake on Saturday 21 October? This classic ballet is full of beautiful music and breath-taking dance, and is sure to create lasting memories. In a time of year full of trick and treats; this breathtaking ballet performance is definitely a treat for the eyes and ears!

For a more light-hearted performance, check out The Little Mermaid on Tuesday 24 and Wednesday 25 October. This brand-new adaptation is full of singing, and dancing, and is perfect for all ages. Expect lots of fun, all brought to you by a fantastic and energetic company of wonderful performers. Sparkling scenery, beautiful costumes, and an exciting opportunity to meet the characters after the show, this is sure to be the family show of the year that you don’t want to miss!

If you’re looking for something free to do, there are plenty of options available. Story & Rhyme Time is on Wednesday 25 October, and is a great way to explore stories through rhyme and help develop your child’s language and communication skills. Book via Southport Library.
Spooky Make it! Craft Workshop is on Thursday 26 October, and is a fun and creative activity for the whole family. Drop in from 11am and help yourself to our free craft materials.

And don’t forget about the museums and galleries at The Atkinson! There’s something for everyone, with free entry and opening hours of 10am – 4pm. Museums and art galleries are a great way to spend a half term with the family, especially on a budget. Be sure to check out our Art Box for a room full of colouring in! Don’t forget to display your masterpiece on our wall.

Our museum has its very own Mummy. Be sure to not wake them during this spooky season! We also have costume stations for you to play dress-up from different eras of history. Who will you choose to be?

Stop by our on-site cafe, A Great Little Place, for a light bite. Their award winning menu and delicious food is delivered by trained baristas and imaginative food created in their own kitchens. Don’t forget to finish off your visit with something sweet. Their cakes are especially good!

For the adults, there’s Murder Mystery: Ghostly Goings On on Friday 27 October. This fun and interactive event is the perfect way to spend an evening with friends. With a drink on arrival, this is an evening you won’t want to miss.

We are also asking adults and children alike to come along to our free craft session on Saturday 28 October 2023 to create a poppy to be displayed in our upcoming exhibition at The Atkinson. This poppy could be dedicated to the lives of service people or those who have been affected by war.
