Join in the family trail exploring ancient Egypt at The Atkinson this Easter!
This Easter, discover amazing stories and objects from Ancient Egypt at The Atkinson as part of the Totally Chaotic History Museum Trail, organised by Kids in Museums and Walker Books. The national trail for families celebrates the release of Totally Chaotic History Ancient Egypt Gets Unruly by bestselling historian and podcaster Greg Jenner with expert interruptions by Dr Campbell Price, an Egyptologist from Manchester Museum, and illustrations by Rikin Parekh.
Pick up a free activity sheet to join in at The Atkinson and explore the intriguing objects that have survived from Ancient Egypt and the people who used and made them. Pretend to be a pharaoh and plan what you would take with you to the afterlife and learn more about the hundreds of Ancient Egyptian gods and goddesses. Complete the trail and get a free Totally Chaotic History sticker!
Over 20 museums around the UK will be taking part over the Easter holidays and encouraging families to enjoy a visit to their local museum. The activity will run from 23 March to 14 April 2024.
Families will also have the chance to take part in our national competition to win a copy of Totally Chaotic History Ancient Egypt Gets Unruly and a Double Art Pass Plus Kids donated by Art Fund. Kids in Museums is inviting children to design their own hieroglyph and tell us what it means. They can share their drawings on Twitter/X or Instagram with the hashtag #TCHMuseumTrail and tag @kidsinmuseums for a chance to win.
