Chopping Club with Andrea Ku

Join ‘At the Library’ in Southport Library for a special Chopping Club, looking closely at bees and what they forage.

Led by Andrea Ku, creator of B4 Biodiversity

Chopping Club invites people from Sefton to meet in the library to prepare collective meals together, visit local sites of food production, and share knowledge and memories around food. We build connections with each other and with the networks of growers, producers, and wider food systems that bring food to our tables.

This month we will be looking closely at the honey bees which live in the hive on the roof of The Atkinson, exploring the surrounding area and identifying what species of plants the bees are foraging, noticing how this changes the taste of the honey. Using an observation hive back at Southport library we will also learn more about the bees and the hive.

Tickets are booked via At The Library and Eventbrite using promo code ATL1.

Tickets are free however booking is essential and places are limited.

Suitable for all ages. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Please book a place for each child as well as each accompanying adult.

If you have any questions or access needs please email hello@atthelibrary.co.uk

About Chopping Club

Chopping Club is a monthly gathering led by artists Niamh Riordan and Gregory Herbert with support from Linny Venables. It is part of the At the Library programme of artist-led workshops, projects, commissions and happenings in community libraries in Sefton. At The Library believes that everyone has “gifts of the heart, the head and the hand” to offer to their community. Through artist-led activity, they create ways for people to share these gifts.

At The Library is curated and produced by Rule of Threes Arts in partnership with Sefton Libraries with funding from Arts Council England and the National Lottery Community Fund.
