Alzheimer’s Society, Sefton has organized the very first Dementia Wellbeing Hubs in the borough at Southport and Bootle during Dementia Action Week in May.
Two unique events will be taking place to support anyone affected by dementia or worried about their memory. The first will be Southport Library at The Atkinson on Monday 15 May and the second at the Strand by Me shop unit at Bootle Strand Shopping Centre on Thursday 18 May.
Barry Lyon, Local Service Manager said “We know how daunting it can be when you first get a dementia diagnosis. There are so many services available, forms to fill in, people to see and so on. Our Wellbeing Hubs plan to have a range of services all in one place so that, as well as getting vital information and support, you will be able to apply for things there and then. It’s like a one stop dementia shop.”
Alongside local Alzheimer’s Society staff, there will be representatives from Sefton Council, Sefton Carers’ Centre, Adult Social Care and the Memory Clinic, providing support with Blue Badge, Council Tax discounts, benefits, dementia risk factors, medication, social care assessments and much more.
Both events will take place between 10.30am and 4pm. There is no need to book, just come along on the day.
