Saving Norway’s National Treasure (the Oseberg Viking ship) and Excavating Merseyside’s Mystery Vessel (the Meols Pub Boat)

Merseyside born and bred Professor Steve Harding – a Scientist at the Universities of Oslo and Nottingham – talks about the attempts by a team of Conservators and Scientists to save all the artefacts from the famous Oseberg ship in Oslo, one of the greatest icons from the Viking Age from imminent disintegration.

A similar boat is believed to have been found buried under the patio of the Railway Inn at Meols.  Stephen will talk about how a team of Archaeologists, Scientists and local enthusiasts are working together to excavate, assess, date and then put back under the ground the ancient vessel  whose origin and age is currently unknown.

We expect this talk to be a sell out, please purchase your tickets in advance.

This is part of  our Evening Talks programme, £5 or free for  members of The Atkinson Development Trust.
