Sherry Ashworth has written many novels for both adults and teenagers, and is now a Visiting Teaching Fellow in Creative Writing at Manchester Metropolitan University’s Writing School, and also Writer-in-Residence at the Portico Library, Manchester.  She will be talking about how she made the move from teaching English to producing novels, and some of the women that have inspired her. She will focus on one in particular, the redoubtable Enriqueta Rylands, who was the force behind the setting up of the John Rylands Library in Manchester, and the first woman to be given the freedom of the City of Manchester.
