Thatched cottages and farm buildings were the norm in rural Britain for a millennium or more. Using thatch for roofing goes back as far as the Bronze Age in Britain. Master Thatcher (retired) Barry Milne will carry out an illustrated talk into this traditional country craft.
Object of the month is a regular programme of short gallery talks that highlight different objects from the collections. Join us as we delve deeper in to our collections and reveal new stories every month.
The talks take place on the second Wednesday of the Month at 1pm in the galleries, no need to book – all the talks are free.
