An Online Lecture by Dr Robert Loynes

KNH Centre for Biomedical Egyptology, The University of Manchester

In 2019 the mummy Nes-Amun that is currently on display at the Atkinson was taken to Aintree Hospital and given a full CT scan. This talk will look at some of the findings of this examination and discuss some of the processes of mummification.

Dr Robert Loynes is a retired Orthopaedic Surgeon who retrained as an Egyptologist with a particular interest in research into ancient Egyptian mummification and mortuary practices and techniques using CT scans to analyse morphological changes and pathologies.

Booking is required before 4pm on 7 April. The talk will be presented using Zoom. You will receive an email invitation to join a Zoom meeting just after 4pm on 7 April.
