Rock Royalty comes to The Atkinson with the Steve Howe Trio

Rock royalty Steve Howe performs at The Atkinson with his new project – the Steve Howe Trio on Sunday 15 September.

For over 50 years, legendary guitarist Steve Howe has been recording and performing solo with bands like Yes, Asia, GTR, ABWH, Tomorrow and now the Steve Howe Trio. He has been at the forefront of rock music as a model and inspiration for other guitarists and musicians.

Steve’s new trio project with his son Dylan Howe, rightly acclaimed as one of the best drummers of his generation and keyboard maestro Ross Stanley on Hammond organ, is in marked contrast to his previous work and this truly masterful combination is soon to be immortalised on CD.

The trio was formed by Steve Howe in 2008 with the release of The Haunted Melody on his HoweSound label. Together with his eldest son Dylan Howe on drums and Ross Stanley on organ, they began exploring a cross breed of music inspired by the recordings of Kenny Burrell and Jimmy

Smith, new arrangements of his own tunes (like Mood For A Day) and the music of Yes.

Tours followed in the UK, Canada and Europe, the recordings of which, created their live release called appropriately Travelling in 2010.

By now, Yes and Asia were both active in touring and recording, which left little time to work with the Trio. But, in 2013 there is the space once more to continue this important project with a September tour in the UK and the release of their second studio album.

Reinvention is the key to musical development, so they will be attempting to raise the bar with their new pieces, and selected songs from their previous repertoire, to make a rounded show of the talents held within this exceptional line-up.

Tickets for the Steve Howe Trio are £20 and are available by calling the box office on 01704 533 333, over the counter or online at theatkinson.co.uk
