Welcome to The Atkinson’s brand-new programme for families, cultural tourists and arts enthusiasts alike!

This season we have an incredible exhibitions programme, including the return of Sefton Open (13 Apr – 12 May) which sees a spectacular display from Sefton’s artistic talent, with artwork for sale. Inspired by Alice (25 May – 7 Sep) explores the origins of Alice in Wonderland and the creativity that Lewis Carroll’s masterpiece has sparked.

Continuing the Alice theme, our family programme includes a brand-new staging of Alice in Wonderland (27 May), featuring catchy songs and lots of humour! Our magical spring pantomime There Was An Old Lady Who Swallowed A Fly (17 Apr) has been written especially for grown-ups to enjoy with their kids.

Southport Festival (10 – 12 May) returns with activities across the town. Join us at The Atkinson for an immersive experience with Peter Antoniou: Séance Live (10 May) and for bingo with a twist at Disco Bingo (11 May), hosted by comedian Brendan Riley with music from DJ Steve Porter.

Guaranteed to make you laugh, comedy is brought to you by stand-up comedian Justin Moorhouse: Northern Joker (25 May) and back by popular demand, Gary Delaney: Gagster’s Paradise (22 Jun).

Our varied music programme includes An Evening of Country & Americana Music (27 Apr), the ‘Rat Pack of Opera’ Tenors Un Limited: That’s Amore (16 May), the ultimate celebration of Frankie Valli & the Four Seasons, Walk Like A Man (22 Jun) and 80’s favourites Hue and Cry: Bitter Suite Tour (28 Jun).

Journey into the curious, unexpected, and downright surreal origins of the words we use every day with Susie Dent: The Secret Lives of Words (2 May). Don’t forget The Atkinson is also home to Southport Library!

Our award-winning café, A Great Little Place, is open late on the first Saturday of every month and offers delicious pre-show meals on selected events.

If you are looking for a unique gift, our shop has a range of cards, jewellery, books, gifts and more, with many items created by local artists.

We look forward to welcoming you into The Atkinson.
