Hello and welcome to The Atkinson’s Spring programme of art, theatre, comedy, music and more.

Did you know The Atkinson is a Grade II listed building? Between the windows above the main entrance there are four medallion heads that represent the four seasons. Can you match each head to their season? Look up next time you are on Lord Street!

This season we present an incredible exhibitions programme including the return of The Sefton Open (9 Apr – 21 May) which sees a spectacular display from local artists across the borough. After being presented online for the past two years, we are excited to return the annual exhibition to the galleries, with artworks available to purchase. The Sefton Young Artist of the Year competition is open for entries 5 Apr – 31 May and the winners will be displayed in The Atkinson’s foyer in the summer.

We look forward to welcoming Gyles Brandreth (14 Apr) back to The Atkinson, the ex-MP delivers a dazzling evening of wit, wisdom, high drama, low comedy, and hilarious name-dropping. Observational comedian Mark Watson (3 Jun) ponders about the fragility of life in an evening of hilarious stand up. The Ballroom Boys double act Ian Waite & Vincent Simone (15 Jun) present a wonderful evening of old-fashioned variety – dance, comedy, and song.

You won’t believe your eyes (or ears!) when it comes to our world-class selection of tribute artists including Johnny Cash Roadshow: From the Ashes Tour (23 Apr), the Uptown Funkster himself 24K Bruno (20 May), Eclipse: The Pink Floyd Experience (4 Jun) and Northern Live: Do I Love You (30 Jun) so get on your dancing shoes and come join the party!

Families are at the heart of what we do which is why we are delighted to welcome The Gruffalo (26-27 Apr), The Wizard of Oz (28 May), Morgan & West: Unbelievable Science (31 May), Pongo’s Party (3 Jun) and Roald Dahl and The Imagination Seekers (18 Jun) to our theatre. With extra activities happening across The Atkinson during Half Term (30 May – 3 Jun).

The Atkinson is fully accessible, with lifts and rails throughout. We have toilets are on all floors, baby changing facilities on the ground floor as well as full adult changing facilities on the first floor.

We look forward to welcoming you to The Atkinson.
