Join Dynamic Dunescapes to celebrate World Sand Dune Day

Pinfold Meadow, Ainsdale National Nature Reserve
Designed to highlight the importance of sand dunes, World Sand Dune Day is celebrated annually by coastal communities and projects across the world. They day was established in 2021 by Dynamic Dunescapes and Sands of LIFE, two projects working to restore coastal sand dune systems.
This year, coastal nature reserve managers, community groups and conservation organisations in the UK, Europe and beyond are hosting a range of exciting events!
Dynamic Dunescapes Sefton have lots of free activities running throughout the day, from Tai-chi to Viking dress up! There’s no need to book, just pop along to Pinfold Meadow and join in the fun.
10:00 – 15:00 – Learn about the history of the Vikings and the Victorians who lived along the Sefton coast with The Atkinson – recreate history with their costume dress up props. Learn about the Dynamic Dunescapes work on the Sefton Coast at our Dune Den and have a go at sitting in our giant deckchair!
10:00 – 10:45 – Tai-chi (please arrive in plenty of time)
11:00 – 11:45 – Tai-chi (please arrive in plenty of time)
12:00 – 14:00 – Walk and Wonder – a poem walk led by writer and artist, Hazel Mutch. No experience necessary, Hazel will guide you through creative writing and drawing process whilst connecting with the landscape.

From the Coastal Road, join the public footpath that takes you under the Coastal Road and around to Pinfold Meadow.
Please note: There is no carpark available at Ainsdale National Nature Reserve, please walk or use public transport.
