Hello and welcome,
We are starting this season in style with All Souls Dramatic Club’s family pantomime, Snow White (12 – 22 Jan). This retelling of the classic tale promises to be the fairest of them all, so join us for some feelgood family fun. We also look forward to welcoming Ray Quinn: King Of Swing (28 Jan) which features all the greatest hits of Sammy Davis Jnr, Dean Martin, Frank Sinatra and many more.
Last year we began working with B 4 Biodiversity and installed a beehive on our roof, created homes for solitary bees and planted lots of pollinator friendly plants around our building. Meet our beekeeper (13 Jan) Andrea Ku and learn how you can support the bee ecosystem. You can also make homes for solitary bees (23 Feb) in a workshop focused on creating sustainable spaces for bees.
Lovers of the great outdoors will not want to miss this insightful show from wildlife presenter and filmmaker Gordon Buchanan (17 Mar). He has a remarkable story to tell as he looks back at his incredible 30-year career in the wild.
The little festival with the big heart returns. Love Folk Festival (10 & 11 Feb) is a celebration of traditional, upcoming and alternative folk music with headliners Jim Moray and The Gigspanner Big Band.
Iconic tribute artists performing this season include The UK Rock Show (25 Feb), T.Rextasy (10 Mar) and Someone Like You – The Adele Songbook (15 Mar). So, get into the groove and enjoy these incredibly talented singers and musicians giving fans a chance to hear their favourite songs up close and personal.
For those of you who prefer the real thing, we have Ian Prowse & Amsterdam (11 March), 10cc’s Graham Gouldman and his Heart Full of Songs project (14 Mar), and the incomparable Paul Young: Behind The Lens (22 Mar). It’s time to revel in the classic hits of the 70s, 80s & 90s – backcombed hair not required…
Have we got a class act for you! Get in the school spirit with John Godber’s timeless comedy play Teechers (23 & 24 Mar). Fast-moving, inventive and highly entertaining, this is comedy theatre not to be missed! Move beyond your role as spectator and become part of the experience in Murder Mystery: The Final Act (25 Feb). You will be immersed into a story, brought to life by a team of crafted, professional actors – the fate of whom belongs to YOU!
Plan to spend time quality time together in the new year. Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler’s beloved Tales from Acorn Wood (1-2 Feb) are brought to life in a charming experience packed full of toe-tapping songs and expert puppetry. One of the most enchanting love stories of all time, Beauty and the Beast (17 Feb), is brought to the stage in a wonderful ballet production featuring a classical score, stunning sets and beautiful costumes.
Discover local stories from across Sefton in our Museum and Gallery. In our new exhibitions you can take a closer look at the buildings that line our town in Southport’s Streets – Seen by you! (3 Dec – 4 Feb) and explore the Victorian history of our coastline in The Promenade: A Leisurely Stroll Along Southport’s Seafront (14 Jan – 11 Mar). Entry is free and a range of interactive displays have been designed to help visitors of all ages explore.
