The Atkinson is fantastic for families, and we have a huge selection of exhibitions and events to discover, with many activities not costing you a penny!

Entry into our Egyptology Museum, Local History Museum and Art Gallery is free, and a range of interactive displays have been designed to help visitors of all ages have fun whilst exploring. In the Theatre, families can enjoy Morgan & West’s Massive Magic Show for Kids! Every seat in the auditorium has a great view of the stage and booster seats are available for littluns. The Atkinson is also home to Southport Library who house an extensive Children section. Oh, and did we mention there is an award-winning café and a fabulous gift shop?…

Families are at the heart of The Atkinson, take a look at the additional events taking place this Half Term and plan your fun, creative and varied day out.

Ukrainian Workshops Day
10:30am – 3:30pm

Immerse yourself in the rich tapestry of Ukrainian culture with a captivating day of workshops at The Atkinson. Discover how to paint vibrant Ukrainian Folk Art and create traditional beaded pieces.

Make it! Craft Workshop – Chinese New Year

Chinese New Year is based on the lunar calendar and marks the transition between zodiac signs. 2024 is the Year of the Dragon! Join us in the Art Box for a craft workshop suitable for all the family, with all materials supplied and all for free.

Unlock The Atkinson: Escape Room Journey

Take part in an escape room journey to unlock treasure in The Atkinson! Follow the clues to complete the puzzle and claim your reward.

Story & Rhyme Time
11:30am – 12:15pm
Suitable for ages 0-4.
Free, drop in event.
📍 Southport Library. Ground Floor.

Explore stories through rhyme and help develop your child’s language and communication skills while meeting other parents and carers. Together with our friendly librarians, enjoy learning new songs, dancing, and making friends.

The Ancient Egyptian’s Guide to Having Fun!

Join Egyptologist and play-advocate Molly Osborne to learn about what the ancient Egyptians did for fun, and play some of their games.

Morgan & West’s Massive Magic Show for Kids!

Roll up, roll up! The time travelling magicians return with their mysterious magic tricks, wall-to-wall silliness and larger than life laughs. Fun for all the family.
