Adventures in Egypt – Mrs Goodison & Other Travellers
Share:

A unique exhibition combining objects from Mrs Goodison’s collection with masterpieces from UK and international collections. Evoking the bustling Egyptian tourist scene of the 1890s, loans of sketches, letters, and objects will link Mrs Goodison with pioneering female collectors, writers, and excavators, including Amelia Edwards, founder of the Egypt Exploration Society.

Introduction to the exhibition from Mrs Goodison (played by actress Gemma Banks)

Some of the object in the exhibition:

Nineteenth century excavators were given generous allowances of objects to take out of Egypt, and scattered them among Western museums. The exhibition will reunite Egyptian objects  from the British Museum and the Petrie Museum that have not been seen together since their excavation over 120 years ago.

This is a chance to see UK and national loans from The British Museum, Manchester Museum, The National Portrait Gallery and The Brooklyn Museum, USA and more!
