Playing Hnefatafl was one of the ways Vikings learnt about their Warcraft. Warfare was not just about brute strength but also about strategy, tactical thinking, the art of surprise, and sometimes the favour of the gods to win against the odds. When you play Hnefatafl you come closer to understanding how the Vikings saw the world whilst learning a little more about their culture
