Ministry of Jazz return to The Atkinson Foyer to perform a variety of joyous and uplifting pieces from their “Christmas Carol Jazz” repertoire in celebration of the beginning of Advent.

Featuring specially-arranged seasonal carols in styles ranging from lounge, blues and ballad to swing, bebop and modern, Ministry of Jazz will also be performing classic, easy-on-the-ear and popular Christmas numbers to warm hearts and broaden smiles.

Ministry of Jazz perform, record and broadcast across the North West of the UK and offer distinctive original compositions alongside well-known jazz standards. Particularly known for their ‘Hymn Jazz’ recitals in Liverpool Cathedral, a recent broadcast of their reggae version of “Praise my soul” caused a surprising dance stir over in The Gambia.

Featuring Daren Murrall on tenor and soprano saxophone and Nigel Reeve on piano and bass, Ministry of Jazz have just completed a new album, “The Rhythm Of Light”, a musical reflection on the colours and hues of the rainbow.

Their CD,“Candlelight Carols – Live!”, which was well received in 2016, is now available once again. Several tracks from this evocative album will feature in today’s festive performances.

Ministry of Jazz will be delighted to give further information about their work and talk about their music with visitors during the recital breaks.
